Good Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is crucial for anyone who wishes to have more exposure on their online store. Instead of paying for Google Ads, organic search result is more trusted by customers than keyword advertising.

In EasyStore, you are free to edit the meta description of your website and pages with keywords to improve their SEO.

Once you have edited SEO, the estimated that it takes anywhere between a few days to 4 weeks before Googlebots index a new site

You are able to edit the image title (image alt). Having an image name can help in improving and boosting your website/product SEO.



1. Edit meta description for website



Go to Admin > Channels > Online Store > Pages > Home > scroll down to the bottom and click Edit website SEO, there you can edit the meta description.

📌 Note : Please be informed that there are 255 characters limit for the SEO Meta Description.



The content that you have in the Meta Description will be displayed as below in the Google Search Engine. Once you have updated your SEO manually it will take up to 60 - 90 days for Google to update it.



2. Edit meta description for "All products" page



Go to Admin > Settings > General > edit Store Description.





3. Edit URL and handle and meta description for other pages



You can also edit the URL and handle and meta description for :
products
collections
content pages
blogs
blog articles

Similar to website home page, while editing, scroll down to the bottom and click Edit website SEO, there you can edit the URL and handle and meta description.

4. Know more about meta description



Definition: Meta description basically defines the description of a page in just one or two sentences and it is shown in search engine result pages.

Part A: Properties of a good meta description



1. Good length

Minimum length: 70 characters or 430 pixels
Maximum length: 155 characters or 920 pixels
On mobile devices, the maximum limit is about 120 characters or 680 pixels.

💡 Tips:

You are suggested to put all important information in the first 680 pixels so the information will be displayed on all devices.

What are the differences between characters and pixels?

In each SERP, there's limited amount of space for meta description. Google advises to use a maximum amount of pixels as it is more accurate than characters. Why?

A letter of the alphabet. For example, "EasyStore" has 9 characters.A pixel is the smallest unit of a digital image or graphic that can be displayed and represented on a digital display device.

📝Summary: A character such as “O” takes up much more spaces than “l” and UPPERCASE letters such as “EASYSTORE” takes up much more spaces than lowercase letters “easystore”.

2. Great readability

Avoid:

Writing in UPPERCASE or lowercase only. Mix it and use uppercase letters to emphasize important words. But Don't Start Every Word With a Capital.

Using special characters such as stars, copyright symbol, registered trademark icon etc.

Excessive use of punctuation characters such as dots, commas, dashes and pipes.

3. Relevant keywords

Use the most relevant keywords for each page.

When visitors see bolded keywords in search results, they tend to click on those results more.

Click through rate (CTR) increases, which in turns plays a role in determining the rank for your page. A high CTR is seen by search engines as a signal that a page is very relevant for a query.

4. Delivering the message

Should convey benefits or unique selling points.

Includes Call-to-action (CTA). Visitors need encouragement for them to convert. For example, Shop now or Click here to find out more.

5. Uniqueness

Meta description must be unique for every indexable page to prevent duplicate content issues.
