Set up Referral Program

1. Introduction

A referral program is a marketing feature that rewards customers for bringing in new customers through personal recommendations. EasyStore's built-in Referral Program lets merchants enable this as a channel directly from the admin panel, where each customer receives a unique referral link to share with friends and family. When a referee signs up through that link and later completes a qualifying first purchase, EasyStore automatically issues credit rewards to both the referrer and the referee based on rules the merchant sets, such as minimum spend requirements and reward amounts. Merchants can also track every referral and its order details in a referral history log, and customize the email notifications sent to referrers and referees using the built-in templates. This guide walks you through enabling the Referral Program channel, setting rewards for both referrers and referees, sharing referral links, reviewing referral history, and editing notification templates.

2. Enable and set up Referral Program channel

Navigate to your EasyStore admin panel > Channels > Referral Program > Enable Referral Program > Complete the setup in General.

3. Set rewards for referrer

Step 3.1 : For the referrer to earn credits, the referee needs to complete 2 actions :

Sign up using the referrer's unique referral link, and
Make a first purchase

📌 Reminder : The first order status must be Paid.

Step 3.2 : For the first purchase, you can allow :

Without minimum spend : any order amount
With minimum spend : for example, only orders of RM100 or above allow the referrer to earn credits

💡 Tips : The minimum spend can be accumulated across multiple orders.

Step 3.3 : Set how many credits the referrer can earn once the referee completes both actions above.

4. Set rewards for referee

For the referee, there's only 1 action needed : sign up using any referral link. The referee can earn credits with no purchase required.

Customers can copy the share caption — share title and message along with their referral links to share with their friends and families (refer step 6 below).

There are 3 ways to set the caption:

Use the system default caption — as seen in preview section at the bottom before manual enter title and message
Enter your own share title and message — to make the caption more engaging

If you have no idea what to write, you can generate with AI based on what you want to highlight. 0.1 ~ 1 tokens will be consumed for each AI generated caption depending on the actual content generated. More info about tokens here.

Don't forget to set your Brand Voice at Settings > AI Settings first.

5.1 Click ✨Write with AI.

5.2 Enter what you wish to highlight in the share caption and click Generate.

5.3 Review the generated caption and click Use if you're happy with it or Generate again.

5.4 The AI suggested share title and message are applied for you.

Step 6.1 : To share referral link together with caption, referrers can go to My Account > Share > Copy caption / Share now.

Step 6.2 : When referees visit the link, they will see the rewards they can earn by signing up.

Step 6.3 : Upon sign-up, the credit reward is automatically added to the referee's account. For the referrer, the credit reward is only added once the referee makes the minimum first purchase and the order status is Paid.

7. History of referrals

You can find the list of referred orders and their details in Histories.

8. Notifications template

When a referee signs up using a referral link, both the referrer and referee are notified via email.

Step 8.1 : Go to Notifications. You can:

Turn on/off the notifications using the toggle, or
Edit the message by clicking the pencil icons

Step 8.2 : Change the content as needed, or reset it to the original template.

9. Note

Currently, if an order is cancelled, refunded, or deleted, credits that have already been given will not automatically be clawed back.
